Terms of Service

Last updated: September 12, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Capyread (卡皮阅读, "we", "us", or "our"), including our website and reading features. By using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the service. Questions can be sent to support@capyread.com.

1. About the service

Capyread is a language-learning and reading service that brings together articles, translations, vocabulary and sentence explanations, reading preferences, and progress tracking. Features and available publications may change over time. Access to an article through Capyread does not give you ownership of that article or a subscription to its original publisher.

2. Eligibility and your account

You must be legally able to agree to these Terms. If you are a minor, a parent or guardian must be involved and provide consent where applicable law requires it.

Provide accurate account information, keep it reasonably up to date, and protect your password and sign-in methods. You are responsible for your use of the service and activity you authorize through your account. Contact us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. You must not use another person's account without permission or impersonate another person.

3. Acceptable use

Use Capyread lawfully and respect other users, publishers, and the service. You must not:

  • Infringe copyright, privacy, or other rights, or submit material you are not entitled to use.
  • Access accounts, private data, systems, or features without authorization.
  • Bypass access controls or usage restrictions, introduce malicious code, or interfere with security or availability.
  • Use automated scraping or bulk extraction that infringes rights, circumvents restrictions, or places an unreasonable load on the service.
  • Resell service access or redistribute articles or generated content without the necessary rights and permissions.

4. Articles, intellectual property, and external links

Capyread's branding, interface, software, and original materials are protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, you may use the service for personal reading and learning. No broader license is granted unless expressly stated.

Articles, images, publication names, and other third-party materials remain subject to their owners' rights and applicable licenses. Translation or explanation does not remove those rights. Obtain any permission needed for copying, publishing, commercial use, or redistribution beyond what the law or the rights holder allows.

Links to publishers and other websites are provided for convenience. Their content, availability, and terms are outside our control, and inclusion does not imply an affiliation or endorsement. If you believe material on Capyread infringes your rights, email support@capyread.com with the relevant page, a description of your rights, and your contact details so we can review it.

5. AI-generated content and learning outcomes

Translations, titles, difficulty labels, and reading explanations may be generated with AI. They may contain errors, omissions, misleading interpretations, or outdated information. Use the original text and appropriate sources to check important details, and report problems when you notice them.

Reading assistance is provided for educational purposes. It is not professional medical, legal, financial, or other specialist advice. We do not guarantee a particular learning outcome, examination result, or improvement in language proficiency.

6. Free and future paid features

The service currently includes features available without payment. Membership descriptions or previews do not by themselves create a purchase or guarantee that a planned feature is available.

If paid features become available, the price, billing period, renewal terms, cancellation process, and any refund conditions will be disclosed before purchase. Charges require your agreement to the relevant purchase terms. Future payment terms remain subject to mandatory consumer rights under applicable law.

7. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle account information, reading activity, cookies, and other information. Please review it alongside these Terms. Only provide personal information and other material that you have the right to share.

8. Availability, changes, and termination

We may maintain, update, add, or remove features, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access or the continued availability of a particular article, publisher, or feature. Where required by law, we will provide notice of material changes affecting your rights.

You may stop using Capyread at any time and contact support to request account deletion. We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to address a breach of these Terms, security threats, abuse, or legal requirements. Where appropriate, we will explain the restriction and allow you to contact us about it. Information retained after account closure is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimers and limitations

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service and its content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of uninterrupted operation, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Capyread is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of, or inability to use, the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including mandatory consumer protections and liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, or other conduct for which a limitation is prohibited.

10. Resolving concerns and applicable law

Contact support@capyread.com if you have a concern about the service or these Terms so we can try to resolve it. These Terms operate subject to applicable law. Nothing in them removes mandatory protections or a right to bring a claim before a competent court that you have under that law.

If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. A failure to enforce a provision on one occasion does not waive the right to enforce it later.

11. Updates and contact

We may revise these Terms as the service changes. The latest version and its update date will be available on this page. We will provide notice of material changes and request renewed agreement where required by law. If you do not accept revised Terms, you may stop using the service.
